Google Business Profile Setup Guide (2025 Edition)

Last Updated: 22.04.2025

🟢 Step 1: Create or Sign in to a Google Account

Start by logging into your Google Account at accounts.google.com.
If you don’t have one, create a new account — you can use an existing business email instead of creating a Gmail.

🟢 Step 2: Set Up Your Google Business Profile

Go to: google.com/business

  1. Enter your business name

    • If it already exists, you’ll see a message and can request ownership

  2. Choose your business category

    • Examples: SEO Consultant, Marketing Agency, Website Designer

  3. Select your business type:

    • Storefront – Physical location customers can visit

    • Service-area – You serve customers at their location

    • Hybrid – You do both

👉 If clients only visit by appointment, choose Service-Area or Hybrid — not Storefront.

  4. Add your service areas

    • You can list up to 20 areas: cities, ZIP codes, or regions.

  5. Enter business contact details

    • Phone number

    • Website URL (optional, but strongly recommended)

  6. Agree to Google’s Terms and Conditions

🟢 Step 3: Verify Your Business

You can’t choose your verification method — Google assigns one.

⚠️ Once your method is selected, it cannot be changed, so follow the instructions exactly.

Common verification methods:

  • 📬 Postcard by Mail (most common — takes 5–12 business days)

  • 📞 Phone

  • 📧 Email

  • 📹 Video verification (growing in 2025 — used for service-area businesses without signage)

📌 Once you receive your code:

  • Log into your Business Profile

  • Enter the verification code

  • Google will process and publish your profile once verified

🟢 Step 4: Add a Team (Optional)

You can grant access to others to help manage your GBP:

  1. Go to your Business Profile (search for your business name on Google)

  2. Click 3-dot Menu → Business Profile settings → People & Access

  3. Click Invite new users

  4. Enter their email address

  5. Choose their role:

    • Manager = edit access

    • Owner = full access

  6. Click Invite
